TTools for Teens
Faith & Values

Christ-centered. Plainly. Without the fine print.

We tell you what we believe up front so nothing about this program comes as a surprise.

What we believe

Tools for Teens is rooted in the historic Christian faith. We believe Jesus Christ is who he said he is — the Son of God, crucified and risen — and that the gospel is genuinely good news for a teenager trying to figure out who they are and what their life is for.

We mentor from that foundation. We pray with the kids. We read scripture with them. We talk about hard things — work ethic, money, sex, identity, suffering — with the Bible open and honest answers ready.

What that means in practice

  • Every cohort opens and closes with prayer.
  • Mentors share their own faith story when it's appropriate, never forced.
  • We point teens toward a local church, but we're not a substitute for one.
  • We treat character — honesty, follow-through, repentance, forgiveness — as part of the curriculum, not optional.

What it doesn't mean

  • You don't have to be a Christian to enroll. Many of the teens who need this most aren't.
  • We don't require a statement of faith from teens or parents.
  • We don't use the trades as a bait-and-switch for "the real lesson." The trades are the lesson. The gospel is the foundation we teach them on, not a hidden agenda.
  • We don't require church attendance. We'll happily recommend one, but that's your family's decision.

For parents

If you're a Christian parent: we're trying to come alongside you, not replace you. The most discipleship a teenager will ever get is at your dinner table. We're here for the hours of the week your dinner table can't cover.

If you're not a Christian parent and you're reading this carefully: thank you. We'd rather you know exactly what you're sending your kid into than be surprised. Your teen will be treated with dignity and care no matter what they believe. We'll tell them what we believe, why we believe it, and we'll listen to their questions like questions deserve to be listened to.

For mentors and volunteers

We ask all paid staff and lead mentors to affirm the historic Christian faith and a basic statement of doctrine. Skill volunteers (someone teaching one welding session, for instance) don't need to share our faith — they need to be safe, competent, and willing to operate in a Christian environment with respect.
